Yellow, Black, Chocolate and Fox Red Labrador Retrievers


Labradors come in all different varieties.  Labradors are classed as a large breed and are available in Black, Yellow, Fox Red and Chocolate. Mainly bred as a working dog due to their fantastic sense of smell and retriever instinct.

Males 22.5 to 24.5 inches (57 to 62 cm) tall, weight 65 to 80 lb (29 to 36 kg). Females 21.5 to 23.5 inches (55 to 60 cm) tall, weight 55 to 70 lb (25 to 32 kg).

Labrador Retriever Coats

Be warned, Labradors, although they are short haired, shed a lot of hair. Labradors coat is normally very dense and quite short. Their coats are water resistant which keeps labs warm and dry if they go for a swim or walk in the winter months.

Labrador Retriever Temperament

Labradors are an easy going caring breed. Fantastic family pet that gets on well with children and other animals. Labradors will give back more love and companionship than they recieve and will give you years of joy and a happy smiley face every time you return home.

Labrador Retriever Puppy’s

Annoying Mum

Labrador puppies should not leave Mum until they are at least 8 weeks old. Most good breeders will provide a hip and eye score of the puppies parents. Labrador pupp’s are easily trained from a young age. It normally takes around 2 weeks to train for the toilet outside apart from the odd moment of excitment. Basic traing like sitting, lying down can be mastered by 12 weeks old but becarful not to train them to much to soon.

Labradors normally live until they are  10 to 12 years old. Labradors are a fairly active dog and will stay active into old age as long as they are kept to the correct weight and kept fit throughout there life.

What Health problems can a Labrador Retriever suffer from

A generally healthy dog that can have issues with knee, hip and elbow dyspacia,  eye problems. Labradors often suffer from obesity as they will eat just about anything. Deafness and blindness often occur in old age.

Exercising your Labrador Retriever

Labradors are an active dog which need plenty of exercise and will soon get fat if not exercised regularly. Labs enjoy to swim and wonder around in woods. As the breed is bred mainly for hunting they enjoy to have a good old sniff around. Being an excellent  retriever most Labradors will happily play fetch for long periods.
