Black Rottweilers

Origins of the Rottweiler

The Rottweiler originated in Germany and acquired its name from the German town Rottweiler in Wurttemberg. In the 1800’s the Rottweiler was practically vanished. The dog breed made its come back in the early 20th century due to the efforts of dedicated breeders in Stuttgart. In his early days, the Rottweiler would have been used for activities, such as guarding, search and rescue, guiding the blind, police work, carting and being a watch dog.
